The Assistive Listening Basic Package is designed to help hard of hearing people better understand speech, music, and other sounds during a movie, performance, lecture, meeting, or worship service. It includes four AL-WB belt pack receivers with in-ear headphones, and a AL-TX wireless transmitter base station in a lightweight carrying case. Use it in Houses of Worship, Theaters, Cinemas, Auditoriums, and Classrooms.

We use this in a church setting. Our auditorium is 64' x 64' and seats around 300. To this point, I have only tested this myself and with the help of one of our members who suffers hearing difficulties but cannot afford hearing aids. I could hear perfectly and she was so very excited to be able to better participate in worship. The sound is fantastic anywhere and everywhere in our building, but we are feeding it a pro-audio grade signal from Shure mics and a Mackie mixer. The signal is clean and noise is minimal (though a small amount is present, this is a mini radio signal after all). We've not used it long enough to make determinations regarding battery life yet. The transmitter box is small but feels sturdy and the receivers seem to be well-built. You can broadcast in stereo or mono, but stereo will require 2 outputs (or split single output) from your mixer as the receiver has two XLR/TRS combo input jacks, one for each channel (there are other inputs, but why degrade the signal?). There are plenty of channel options to make sure you get a clean signal without interference, though if you're in a very urban area you may want to test out these frequencies prior to purchasing a unit. The receivers have a belt clip and I like the meaty volume control button, which makes it easy for our older folks to find and set their volume. The channel adjustment is inside the battery compartment so you don't have to worry about users accidentally adjusting the channel. If the four receivers that come with the unit aren't enough, you can buy as many more as you want since this thing works like a mini radio station. The earbuds are comfortable enough but not what you'd call high quality. This didn't matter to us because we weren't planning on maintaining those anyway, we're telling our folks to bring their own since any standard 3.5 mm headphones will work. To this point, we're very happy, but if we experience any problems I plan to update this review.

If you're considering one of these devices, whether this specific unit or not, consider this: Assistive Listening systems amplify only the signal coming from the mixer / microphone. Meaning the background noise becomes less as the volume is turned up by the user. Thus there's more signal and less noise, better than what many hearing aids do. I don't think you'll be disappointed if people at your facility are claiming they can't hear.
