QNAP TS-469-PRO-US 4Bay Intel Atom 2.13GHz Dual Tower 2.13GHz 1G RAM NAS Review

I bought this unit for home usage, where I can store my infant son's baby pictures as he grows up, as well as our family photos. Our family also store tones of movies and MP3s on this little NAS, where it can be connected to a TV for media streaming over HDMI. No more running out of space for me. One of the feature I really like is the mobile apps for this NAS, I use one of the mobile apps call Qfile on my android phone to access my data from anywhere in the world. I can take a picture from my cellphone from within the Qfile app and it will automatically upload the photo onto my NAS over the cellphone data plan. I love this ability because it will leave more room on my cellphone for other things.

Besides using this Qnap NAS for home entertainments I also use it for work, I store all of my work related word and PDF files on the NAS for easy management and retrieval. I run a raid 5 so the data is still protected even if one of the hard drive failed. Been running this little NAS for a while now and so far no problem at all!!!

Recently I recommended the TS-879U-RP to our company IT manager for our company visualization environment. We are connecting to the Qnap NAS over iSCSI and so far it handling pretty well anything we throw at it.

PRO:

- Very fast transfer speed over 1 Gb network (I am getting average 90 MB/s)
- Useful apps from the mobile app store for Android and Mac.
- MycloudNAS works pretty well, relatively easy to setup, allows me to access the NAS with a hostname from anywhere in the world.
