My dad has a non-hd Swaro spotter he bought 10 years ago. We both have used the Swaro a ton. He remarked to me after he used the Viper spotter on a Manfrotto tripod "my Swarovski is better, but nowhere close to $1500 better."

I've used it extensively and I can say the same as dad. The Swarovski isn't $1500 better (Swaros run about $2K the Viper is $500, hence the $1500 difference).

Having said that...the Viper is about 5/6th (maybe a bit better) the glass the Swaro is at a quarter of the cost.

I've had it out to 1100 yards and the image is clear and can see hits on steel easily. I've not run paper targets at that distance (I only do paper to get a zero at 50 and 100 yards). It does great, as it should, at 100 yards to see hits on paper, even against black.

I've read a review about the comparable Bushnell Legend and the Viper was ripped to shreds. I've not used the Bushy, but I can say for what I've used this scope for, steel from 300 to 1100 yards in light and dusk conditions, it is GREAT.

The controls are intuitive and easy to manipulate. The glass is very clear and the edges are perfect.

I need to mention that am transitioning from various glass company's products to Vortex only because of the quality, price and warranty. Those details are important to me as a consumer of quality glass.
