I've had this DAC for a week now and it is just amazing. before this I had the Nuforce icon HDP for about a year but didn't care for the USB on the HDP. The UDH-100 really blows the HDP away. the UDH-100 Amp drives my Beyerdynamic DT990 600ohm headphones really well, I used a Schiit Valhalla with my HDP and so far I've used the UDH-100 amp exclusively with my DT990's. the RCA out into the Schiit Valhalla sounds really well too. I also have AKG K702 headphones and they sound fantastic from the UDH-100 as well. I listen to Pink Floyd all the time 24/96,24/192, vinyl rips, and SACD-R's, kernel streaming to the UDH-100 from foobar2000 and it is very very very good.the UDH-100 is pretty big and heavy, it's built well and feels sturdy. the only thing that feels a bit off about it is the volume knob, when you turn it it feels like it's not turning anything but it works perfectly. it also does not come with a USB cable (was not a problem with me I have a better quality USB cable)
I wish Nuforce had some more information about the UDH-100 and some reviews. I had actually ordered this a week before but canceled because there was just nothing about it anywhere no reviews or nothing and little info from nuforce, but I re-ordered it and am glad I did because it is really nice.
Oh and the RCA and headphones both work at the same time. when headphones are plugged into the UDH-100 the RCA's do not mute. its not a problem for me but just saying. there's no display just a very small pinhole that lights red when the unit is on, the vent by the volume knob does nothing. to turn it on/off you just hold in the volume knob for a split second or use the generic nuforce remote that comes with it to turn on/off (I say generic because it has an 'input' button) the driver from nuforce allows you to output 24/192, not sure if mac needs the driver but there is a driver for mac. I use mine with an asus G74SX laptop err... desktop :)
anyways I am really happy with it and it's gotten better over the days. I noticed a difference right away from the icon HDP.
