Why is the G12 more expensive than the G15- which is a better and far more versatile camera. I own the 12 and it's very good, but the 2.8 lens is limiting. I also own the G1X which
is in a different class- but the price difference between the 12 and 15 makes no sense.

Quantum Qflash TRIO Basic for Nikon QF8NB Review

Overall, I'd probably think twice before purchasing the Qflash again. My biggest problem with it is that when it is powered off and mounted on my Nikon D3s, it locks the camera up and the camera can't be used. I've had others tell me they had the same problem with their Qflash and a D700.

I've confirmed this with Quantum and their only solution was to have me disable the flash using the menu system on the rear of the flash. This creates several situations for me that I'm uncomfortable with: 1) I now have to have the Qflash powered on ALL of the time for my Nikon D3s to function and 2) Even with the flash disabled in its own menu system, the max shutter speed I can shoot at is locked in at 1/250s unless I enable high-speed sync. I'm not particularly satisfied with either situation.

Honestly, I've used a number of flash units and every one of them, when powered off, was "invisible" to the camera. I don't know how Quantum managed to screw this one up.

To be fair, MOST of the other aspects of the flash are fine. I just wish that there had been a notice somewhere that it has problems on a Nikon D3s so I wouldn't have purchased it.

Elite Screens VMAX150XWH2 VMAX2 Electric Projection Screen (150-Inch 16:9 AR) Review

I bought this screen along with the Optoma HD20 High Definition 1080p DLP Home Theater Projector (Grey) for my home theater and it shows a fabulous picture.

Out of the box it was well assembled and the only thing required of me were my own mounting screws. I was pleased to see an RF and IR remote included for operating the screen as well as the optional wall mount switch with an optional 12V toggle.

Installation was simple, my friend and I mounted it to wall studs and finished in about 30 minutes. Like I said, all you need to buy are your choice of mounting screws as the case ships fully assembled and ready to mount. It takes about 40 seconds for the screen to completely lower or raise up. This is by design since this isn't a tensioned screen. If the motor were too fast, the screen might get folded up during rolling and cause a nasty crease or wrinkle like a window shade that went up too fast. The slow retraction makes sure this doesn't happen. This doesn't bother me anyway because it takes me longer than that to warm up the projector and find a Blu-Ray to watch. The electric motor is very quiet too as a bonus.

The quality of the screen material was astounding. I had heard some users having wrinkled screens but my screen turned out nice and smooth. Colors and blacks turn out nicely on it when watching movies. Let me tell you also, 150 inches of real-estate looks flat-out beautiful. Words cannot describe it.

I have to give this a 5-star rating because it exceeded what my original expectations were and has really enhanced my home theater experience for a really good price. Good luck.

Sony GV-HD700 High Definition Video Walkman Review

The product pretty much does what it says, and does tape in HDV from the Firewire input. There were some minor issues connecting it to FCP 6.02, but suddenly, magically, it worked.Screen Spec: Sony (and most sites) say "1152K pixels" leading one to believe that the screen is 1440x800. According to a quick test by me, that is NOT the resolution. The manual says 800x480 (384,000 pixels) and that is likely correct. Sony gets the"1152" by taking 800H lines x 480V lines x 3 colors = 1152K. No one else I've ever seen, including Sony on other products measures resolution this way.To check it out further, I used a resolution chart and fed the FW output (HDV) to Quicktime to view on my Apple 30" display. Resolution to 800 lines, both H and V resolution was limited by the camera (which is about 690H 650V according to some tests by [...]. When I looked at the same output on the GV-HD700 display, Vertical resolution topped out at about 400 lines, Horizontal at about 600 lines, confirming the 800x480 spec in the manual.There is considerable delay when inputting to the GV-HD700 using Firewire HDV signal, so its use in the field as a focusing aid is problematic. The screen resolution is better than the ones on a camera (my V1U has 960x220 according to Sony), but the delay (about 1/2 second or more to decode the HDV signal) means that on other than stationary objects, it is useless, and even on stationary objects, one must be patient to get the focus right and avoid overshoot. But since the screen is really only standard definition anyway, if you let the GV-HD700 downconvert to DV for firewire output, the delay is quit short and the display on the screen is essentially the same as when using HDV.I still give it four stars, because other than the spec issue, HDV delay is to be expected, and it is a much more cost effective deck than any other, like the MS10 or 15.Suggested enhancements (that is, cool features missing): 1. real HD display; 2. HDMI input for at least display purposes to minimize display latency for monitoring; 3. Component input, same reason as #2.

Pioneer VSX-52 7.1 Channel Elite AV Receiver Review

my home theater setup with this receiver includes the ff: samsung 46" lcd tv, samsung bd-c6800, apple tv2, directv sat receiver, jbl es series speakers (es90 as fronts, es25c as center, es30 as surrounds and es250pwch as my wireless sub). in addition, im also using the icontrolav2 app for ipad2 and iphone 4s...GOT THIS AWESOME RECEIVER IN BB FOR 715$ and i was so happy with it...the first thing that i noticed was the loose power cord connected at the back of this receiver. luckily, i have a spared power cord from my old tv with the same specs and fits really tight...(possible hazard with loose connection such as this one)

Upgrading from a very old pioneer receiver, this receiver does so many auto calibrations. After running the MDACC, the receiver's performance was really awesome...it took me a few days to get around and know the overwhelming parameters/settings/adjustments...i was able to program and consolidate all my remotes which includes the blu-ray player, the tv, the sat receiver and including the apple tv2 remote...the bad side though is on the remote, it is long and skinny and buttons are so compressed. it will be nice if pioneer makes it like a logitech harmony 1100 style and size...

The free app for ios devices is great. i was able to fully control this receiver on my ipad2 and iphones...even the interface is so neat. i really like the finger equalizer that allows me to customize and save my settings...coupled with the apple tv2, no need to go to my basement just to power it on so i could listen to the music files originating from my itunes library...

for extra info, the elite vsx-52 is the same as the pioneer vsx-1121. the 52s have black and gold interface while the 1121s have the black and white...this unit has an msrp of 900 while the 1121 has 800 but for the price that i paid for, it is an awesome deal...comparing the 52 with the 53, there's not much difference though....so paying up and extra 200$ isnt worth it.

i have auditioned the vsx-52 with multiple blu-ray movies that includes "the dark knight", "avatar", and even with "the police: certifiable in buenos aires". i was really impressed with power and clarity of the audio and video..i also listened to my music files which was ripped using apple lossless version and some protected aac formats and from dire straits to styx to lifehouse to linkin park, the audio was superb.

if you are buying this product, i would suggest to download the manual from pioneer's website so you'll get a heads up before getting the receiver. the installation process was a breeze since i used all hdmi connections.

overall, this elite vsx-52 receiver is a great buy. rich in features coupled with an outstanding audio and video processing outputs... automation, if you are planning to use this with your ios devices, was easy. you will have outstanding control while enjoying any of your favorite sources.
